Last weekend, we got to take Lucy trick-or-treating for the very first time.
If you ever want to feel old and sad and nostalgic and grateful and basically all the feelings in the world, have your kiddos about 8 years apart. As you experience “firsts” again with your second, you find yourself remembering when your older kiddo was small. And wondering how it is that time seemed to stand still back then but now has flown by in a blink.
And then you cry all the tears and drink all the wine and drown your sorrows in a few dozen banana Laffy Taffy.
We decided on “Woody” for Lucy’s costume. It’s actually “Jessie” from Toy Story 2, but she’s only seen the first one and was pretty excited to be her favorite character Woody.
I found this ADORABLE costume from Belle Threads. It’s sparkly and fun and has a tutu in the back. I paired it with a pair of white leggings and a white long sleeved t-shirt and we were good to go! Thankfully the weather here has been mild, so there was no need for coats. When I was a kid I HATED covering my costume up with a coat! I bought the boots and hat from Zappos and we were good to go.
Jon David wanted to be a zipper face for the second year in a row. It’s so gross, but fairly inexpensive and easy and always gets a huge reaction!
This year I applied this latex before the make-up to give it some texture and look extra gory.
Last year Lucy was TERRIFIED of Jon David, so this year I had her watch me apply his make-up to help her see that it wasn’t real.
She was still pretty grossed out. Keep thinking that, Lucy. Boys are gross. Never forget.
“Lucy, do you want to take a picture with your Bubbs?”
Uhhhhhh….
At one point in the evening, Lucy starting lifting her boots and shouting, “TRICK OR TREAT SMELL MY STINKY FEET”
Oops.
Brb, got something in my eyes. *SOB*
I hope you all had a very safe and happy Halloween!
